Remembering

I remember when life was as easy

As coloring between the lines.

I remember when watching cartoons

Was the highlight of my week.

I remember running through the sprinkler

And not caring what people thought.

I remember when holding my

Daddy’s hand was enough.

I remember when a good time

Was hide and go seek in the yard.

I remember when the clouds above

Were fluffy white animals.

I remember when how I looked

Wasn’t a big deal.

I remember when being on TV

Meant my mom getting out the video camera.

I remember all the times I cried

And someone was there to comfort me.

I remember getting a bike for Christmas

And riding it through the house in my pajamas.

I remember the good stuff,

Forget all the bad.

I remember what life was,

And how it soon will be.
