Computer and Internet Access

The Bullitt County Public Library provides access to the Internet on computer workstations available at every library location. Wireless internet access is also provided at all library locations.

Most library computers are equipped with Microsoft Office 2007 software, including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word. Some computers at the Lebanon Junction branch offer Microsoft Office 2010 software.

The Study Rooms at Ridgway Memorial Library, Lebanon Junction, and Mt. Washington can be reserved for educational or work-related purposes. A work table and computer station are available. Call the appropriate library for details.

Computer Classes

Our Reference Department offers free one-on-one computer classes at Ridgway Memorial Library.

Subjects include resume help, computer basics, Web navigation and e-mail, social networking sites, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, and the basics of Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint. We also provide training on our library databases and online catalog and an overview of resources on our library website. Copy and Fax Services

Self-serve copy machines are available at each Bullitt County Public Library location. Black-and-white copies are 10¢/page and color copies are $1.00/page. Payment is made to the Circulation Desk after your copies have been made.

Faxes can be sent from the library Circulation Desk for $1.00/page. There is no charge to receive a fax at the library, but donations are frequently made for faxes of several pages.

Downloadable Digital Media

The Bullitt County Public Library provides free, unabridged, downloadable audio books via NetLibrary.  Many new and popular audio books are available. There is also a selection of publicly accessible eBooks. Before you can use this service you must create a NetLibrary account at one of the Bullitt County Public Library locations.

We also provide access to Kentucky Libraries Unbound, which offers downloadable audio books, eBooks, music, and video.You can check out with your library card and PIN and download up to 10 items to your PC, Mac®, or one of many mobile devices including iPod® and Sony® Reader™. Some audio titles can also be burned to CD to listen on-the-go. Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period, and there are no late fees. Certain software downloads are required for use (OverDrive® Media Console™ for audiobooks, music, and video;  Adobe® Digital Editions for eBooks).

Additional free downloadable e-materials can be found online on websites such as Project Gutenberg and LibriVox. More suggested sites for free eAudiobooks and eBooks can be found on our Download page.

Friends of the Library

Membership in "Friends of the Library" is for one year, beginning July 1st of each year. Benefits to members include a fine-free period of 90 days* after the due date for books, books on tape, books on CD, and magazines. The fine-free policy DOES NOT include any materials that have a $1.00 per day late charge, such as DVDs, music CDs, etc.

INDIVIDUAL memberships are $10, and FAMILY memberships are $15. If you join after January 1, membership is half-price as it is only valid till the next July. You may join in person at any Bullitt County Public Library branch location, or mail your check to:

Interlibrary Loan

Materials not available at Bullitt County Public Libraries may be borrowed from lending libraries around the country.   

Borrowing Guidelines:
  • ILL service is available to all patrons with a valid BCPL library card that is in good standing.
  • Library patrons are responsible for the cost of one-way postage. Due dates are set by the lending institution. Some libraries allow material to to be renewed, others do not.
  • Patrons may request as many items as needed, but can only take five out of the library at a time.
  • If materials are not returned the library patron is responsible for all fines and processing fees. If materials are requested and not picked up, the patron will be assessed one-way postage charges and the library reserves the right to deny future interlibrary loan requests.
  • To check on the status of an ILL request, please call 502-543-7675 ext. 9.

Meeting Rooms

Ridgway Memorial Library, Dorothea Stottman Library, and Lebanon Junction Library have meeting rooms available for public use. To reserve a meeting room for an organization or event, contact the library. A deposit of $25 may be required. For further details, see our policy for Meeting Room Use.

Nichols Easy Access Library

Patrons in the Nichols area can have items delivered to the library pick-up/drop-off point located on the front porch of Nichols Elementary School. You can request items be picked up at the NICHOLS location when placing your holds on the library online catalog or call 502-543-7675 ext. 9 to request items.

There is a limit of five items at a time, and you will have two days to pick up your items once you have been notified of their delivery. A pass code will be issued to retrieve your items from the box. Please call Cindy at 502-543-7675 ext. 9 with any questions.

Outreach Services

Our Outreach Department can provide book delivery for homebound library patrons. Please contact Charlie at 543-7675 ext. 5 or e-mail programs@bcplib.org for details.

The Outreach Department organizes a number of events at the library and in the community, such as special storyhours for daycares or church groups. For details, please contact our Outreach staff.

Looking for a good book? Simply fill out our Personalized Reading List Request Form and our staff will create a list of books selected according to your reading preferences.

For more research-intensive reference requests, please submit a Reference/Genealogy Request Form.

Assistance will be provided as quickly as possible, although there may be a delay before more involved requests can be answered. Responses will be delivered using whatever method you specify. The choices are e-mail, telephone, mail, or fax. Standard copy and fax charges will apply.

Service is provided to everyone. It is not necessary to hold a library card to obtain assistance in the library, via the telephone, or through our website.

Special note for genealogy researchers:  If you are unable to visit our Genealogy Room, we can check library materials such as microfilm of the Pioneer News or our Family Files to assist your genealogical research. We cannot take on long term projects or research your family tree for you.
