Adult Programs


On-going Programs
  • Crochet Class for Beginners
    4-part beginners' crochet class with Instructor Linda Floyd. All materials will be provided, but space is limited. Meeting locations and dates will be determined based on registration. THIS CLASS HAS BEEN FILLED THROUGH MAY 2012; REGISTRATION IS CURRENTLY CLOSED.
  • Crochet: Intermediate Level
    "Graduates" of the Beginners' Class and those already familiar with the six basic stitches may bring their own patterns and supplies to meet with like-minded crocheters. Group meets every Tuesday @ 6:00, Ridgway Memorial Library.
  • Let's Talk About It
    Book Discussion Group led by Diane Calhoun-French.
    Meets once a month through most of the year. More details.
  • One on One Computer Class
    Do you need help with your beginning or intermediate computer skills? We can help. For an appointments, contact the Reference Desk at 543-7675 ext. 4.
  • Veterans History Project
    We are making video records of veterans service during the war time. We are especially looking for WWII veterans. Call for appointment.
  • Writing Contest
    Our 2012 annual writing contest is now underway. You can find a history of past winners on our Annual Writing Contest page.

  • Family Movie Night Ridgway Memorial Library 6 p.m.
    Regular attendees may now request advance notice of the featured movie! The 4th Thursday of each month.* We usually show a recently released to DVD movie suitable for family viewing. Due to public performance license restrictions we can't name the movie here. Please e-mail or call Allison to find out more details.  Due to high attendance, pre-registration is required for admission. Register Online 

    *Due to holidays or library closings, the Family Movie may be rescheduled for an alternate date.

  • Teen Summer Reading
    This is a FREE summer program for middle and high school ages. Our 2012 slogan for teens will be "Own the Night." The program will kickoff in June 1, 2012!  Register online.
  • Anime, Manga & Jpop Group for High School Age Students
    We delve into the world of Manga as well as Anime and its music. We sample the foods of Japan.

    We now have groups meeting at two Library locations:
    @Ridgway Memorial Library - Meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 6 pm.
    @Dorothea Stottman Library - Meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 6pm - 8pm

On-Going Programs
  • Storyhour
    A weekly school-year program for 3 - 5 year old children and their caregivers. Programs include a wide variety of activities including reading books, doing crafts and other fun project. This is a great way for parents or grandparents to enjoy doing guided activities with their child and have fun at the same time! 
  • Toddler Storytime
    A weekly school-year program for children from birth to 2 years of age and their caregivers.
  • Lego Club
    Calling all Lego Lovers! Join us to build some fun and fabulous Lego Constructions. Legos will be provided, or bring your own. Ages 5 and up. Monthly Saturday meetings at Ridgway Memorial Library.
  • Mother/Daughter Book Club
    Join us to read and discuss a current book. Refreshments will be served. For more information or to find out the title of the book, please call Ms. Lucinda at 543-7675 ext. 5 or e-mail childserv@bcplib.org.
  • Summer Reading Program
    Summer reading is a FREE program every summer for elementary age children (K–5). There are stories, crafts, and other activities. All participants are awarded coupons and prizes. Our slogan for 2012 will be "Dream Big—Read"; the program will kickoff in June 1, 2012. Register online.
