ALARM AND FIRE PROTECTION
All four libraries have a security system in place. The system will monitor both unauthorized access and give us some additional fire protection.
Ridgway and Dorothea Stottman libraries have unprotected areas. The meeting rooms, the hallways and rest rooms are unprotected. The main library and office rooms are protected. Meeting rooms may be used at any hour of the day or night.
OPENING
Enter through a door with easy access to the alarm keypad. When you come in the alarm warning will be tripped. The keypad will emit a sound. You must get to the keypad and type in the entry code number. If you make a mistake wait three seconds and try the number again. The armed light will go out.
CLOSING
The last person to leave at closing must turn on the alarm system.
Check the status of the system. All perimeter doors must be closed. Every one in the library must stand still. The green light should be on and not blinking. If it is off, or blinking, one of the alarms is being tripped. Check the doors again and for movement in the library. If it still does not set up see fixing problems below.
Type in the code number. Leave the building immediately. If the key pad starts to buzz before you leave go back and type in your code number again to stop the alarm from activating. Start the closing procedure over.
GENERAL INFORMATION
If the alarm is tripped anytime while the library is closed, the police or fire will be notified. A library staff member will also be notified. The staff member should make arrangements to meet the police or fire department at the building.
All four libraries use the same code number. If you have to work at another branch be sure you know where the keypad is located.
Do not share the code with anyone not employed by the library. This includes volunteers. Do not leave the code lying around where someone might find it. If you think the code number has been learned by an unauthorized person let Judy or Randy know. We will change the code numbers.
FIXING PROBLEMS

To bypass it press the B/A key then the number of the item needing bypassed. Arm the system by typing in the library's code number.
