GRIEVANCE POLICY
The purpose of the grievance procedure is to allow all staff members to get a fair hearing on any matter related to the working, or staff environment that is unsatisfactory for them for some reason, and are not able to get it resolved in the normal interaction during the working day. Although initial discussions can be taken in a very informal way with your supervisor, if the matter is not resolved in this way a more formal grievance procedure should be used.
Ask for a meeting with your supervisor, away from the public and other staff, solely for the purpose of discussing the single issue. If a resolution is not forthcoming, a meeting should be scheduled with the assistant director and the director. If the issue cant be resolved at this level, an appointment can be scheduled with the grievance committee of the Board of Trustees. Their decision can be appealed to the full Board if the staff person is still unsatisfied with the decision.
Any staff wishing to use the formal grievance procedure must first fill out the staff grievance form. All staff must follow the grievance procedure.
