HIRING AND FIRING

Director hires all staff positions. Involvement of the staff may be part of the hiring process.

The Director terminates all staff. He will consult with the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees before final action is taken.

Dismissal of a staff member may be for one of the following reasons:

1. During the probationary period when it becomes

evident that the employee is not suited to this particular job.

2. When a permanent employee consistently fails to

perform their job properly. This might be first indicated by an

unsatisfactory evaluation, or repeated warnings by their

supervisor. The employee will always be given written warnings

and an opportunity to improve performance.

3. Theft of library property or money.

4. Commission of a felony.

5. Bona fide abolition of this position. A genuine

effort will be made to find another position.

If the employee feels the dismissal is unfair they may appeal to the grievance committee of the Board of Trustees. This committee consists of the five Board Members.
