MATERNITY LEAVE
Maternity leave will be granted upon request to any full-time employee. Maternity leave is taken without pay. The leave can be up to 3 months long, and can be extended on a month-by-month basis at the director's discretion. It can start 6 weeks before the baby is due or earlier if a doctor certifies the need. All accumulated sick time and vacation time can be used first. Medical benefits will be continued by the library during the leave period.
Sick time and vacation time will not continue to accrue while the employee is on maternity leave. The employee will be guaranteed their original position or a position of equal pay, if it is not possible for the library to hold that position open.
