Revised 8-12-03
VACATION
Vacation leave will be granted to permanent
full-time and regular part-time employees. Eligibility for vacation leave will begin with the date of employment and will begin
to accrue after the first full month of service. It will continue to accrue at
the end of each succeeding month. Vacation leave may not be used during the
first six months of employment.
Permanent full-time employees shall accrue annual
leave at the rate of one day per month. Regular part-time staff will receive
vacation leave prorated on the number of hours normally scheduled to work in a
week as compared to a full-time work week:

then
multiply by the years of service table below.
Annual leave shall increase based on years
of service:

years = 1 day / month FT = 12 days / year FT
5 - 9
years 1.25 day /15 days FT
10 -14 years
1.5 day /18 days FT
15 - 19
years 1.75 day / 21 days FT
20+
years 2 days / 24 days FT
(part-time staff in
proportion to their FTE figure above)
Increases will become effective on the
current benefit anniversary date of the employee.
Vacation time may be used in units of not
less than 1/2 hour. Periods of less than 1/2 hour will be counted as 1/2 hour.
Vacation will be taken only after it has
been earned. An employee may not carry forward any more than one year's worth
of accumulated vacation. Example, if employee received a day/month, they can
accumulate up to 12 days vacation for carry over.
If more than two employees sign up for
vacation on the same dates, the third person must receive approval from Library
Director or Assistant Director and find their own replacement. Every January, all staff will request vacation
for the year. Priority will be given based on number of years worked.
All remaining vacation requests will be on a
first come first serve basis. From February to December, employees should give
at least ONE week notice for requesting vacation. If there are not already two
people scheduled for a time period requested, vacation will be granted. Less
than one week's notice requires permission of the Assistant Director or
Director.
Vacation will accrue when an employee is on
vacation, is sick, or on professional or other approved leave; however, it will
not accrue while an employee is on unpaid leave of absence.
Upon leaving employment voluntarily, an
employee will be paid for any unused vacation time based on current salary.
